Scuba Diver Course

The Scuba Diver course is a training program that certifies the diver to dive up to 12m with professional supervision.

The pool training portion typically takes 1 session (although depending on the diver, additional sessions may be required). Afterwards, the student will need to complete 2 Open Water dives.

Details:

The program consists of 3 modular components, which can be done individually or together, as you prefer:

  • Academic development: this can be done online before you come here, or over the course of 3-3.5 hours of video/online sessions once you are here – this is via self-study materials assigned to you online. Here, you learn more about the physics, physiology and other aspects of diving and the underwater world.
  • Confined Water training: This is half a day (usually) of skills training, where you learn more about dive equipment as well as master the various skills needed to dive safely.   There is also an online class with an instructor, reviewing both diving theory as well as debriefing on the skills you have learned in the pool
  • 2 Open Water dives: these are deep water dives, where you practice the skills you have learned in confined water and also get to experience and enjoy the magic of the underworld world.

Here in Bangalore, our pool training program covers the first 2 modules: theory and the confined water training sessions.   We also have options for completing the third module – the Open Water dives – either with us or on your own.

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum age – 10
  • Maximum age – none (subject to fitness/medical clearance)
  • Ability to float or tread water for 10 minutes without needing any external support
  • Review our medical questionnaire and get a doctor’s clearance if any of the conditions listed in it apply

Price:

  • Online Materials for academics:   Rs 7,000
  • Pool Training:   Rs 6,000

This is all inclusive and covers all academics, pool training, gear rental, mandatory training materials and certification costs.

Other Info:

Please note that the Scuba Diver certification course is actually an intermediate training program.

The first level of diver certification is actually the Open Water course, which trains a diver to dive independently up to 18m without professional supervision.   We recommend that as the course for most divers.

The Scuba Diver course is primarily for divers who either lack the time to do the full course or are not comfortable enough in the water to be certified as full Open Water:   it provides a way to continue diving in a controlled environment till they acquire enough comfort to then complete the Open Water certification.
