Open Water Diver Course

The Open Water Diver course certifies the diver to dive up to 18m without professional supervision, and is the first full diver training level.

The pool training portion typically takes 2 sessions (although depending on the diver, additional sessions may be required). Afterwards, the student will need to complete 4 Open Water dives.

Details:

The program consists of 3 modules, which can be done individually or all together with us:

  • Academic development: this is done via self-study, using online materials that we will assign to you. Here, you learn more about the physics, physiology and other aspects of diving and the underwater world.
  • Confined Water training: This consists of 2 days of skills training in a pool, where you learn more about dive equipment as well as master the various skills needed to dive safely.   In addition, there is also one online session with an instructor to review diving knowledge and also the skills covered in the pool session
  • 4 Open Water dives: these are deep water dives, where you practice the skills you have learned in confined water and also get to experience and enjoy the magic of the underworld world.

Here, in Bangalore, we offer the first 2 modules as part of our training program: academics and the confined water training sessions.

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum age – 10
  • Maximum age – none (subject to fitness/medical clearance)
  • Ability to float or tread water for 10 minutes without needing any external support
  • Ability to either swim 200m unaided or 300m with a mask+snorkel (while you can start your training even if you don’t meed this requirement, this needs to be completed at some point in the course in order to get certified)
  • Review our medical questionnaire and get a doctor’s clearance if any of the conditions listed in it apply

Price:

The price of the various modules of the program are as follows:

  • Academics:    Rs 7,000
  • 2 Pool Training Sessions:   Rs 11,500
  • Additional pool sessions (if needed):   Rs 3,000 per session
