The Nitrox course teaches you to use a breathing mix with more than 21% oxygen - this allows you to dive for longer and also reduces the risk of DCS.

Nitrox is entirely indistinguishable from regular air in terms of taste and feel. Learning to dive with nitrox is essentially a class in learning about how to plan and execute dives safely with this gas – in other words, it is mainly a theoretical class.
The benefits are significant: up to 10-15 minute more of bottom times while on diving trips, and also increased safety because of lower nitrogen absorption.
If you are a keen diver, a Nitrox course is virtually essential!
