Most diver training programs are designed to cater to as large a variety of divers as possible. This program, however, is designed for a select few: those who want to really develop their skills to become truly advanced divers.
This course was inspired by the GUE Dive Fundamentals course but functionally, has a few key differences: it is aimed more towards tropical/warm water divers, it is not geared with tech diving as the end-game and it is not a one-size-fits-all solution, so participants can decide how much time they want to spend on the training.
The program works on refining a diver’s buoyancy and trim, improving kicking efficiency, adding multiple kicking techniques and also reviewing essential dive skills such as SMB deployment and using a reel. Depending on the diver’s comfort level, we will also add various degrees of complexity/task loading.
THEORY (optional): This module aims to provide a deep (pun intended) theoretical knowledge of what actually happens to us when we go diving, and how to use that knowledge to solve any unusual problems that may come up. Topics covered include advanced air management, advanced decompression theory and problem management/risk prioritization (aka – how to choose between 2 less-than-ideal alternatives).
Due to the nature of the course and the fact that individual divers vary in their preferences about how much they want to learn under instructor guidance and how much they want to practice on their own, there is no hard-and-fast number of sessions for this program.
We generally recommend starting with one session and going from there. Some people prefer to come back for additional practice/review sessions, while other want to continue learning.
Also, optionally, if divers want, they can use these sessions to get their Buoyancy Specialty certification as well – purchase of online study materials for the Buoyancy Specialty course is required for this, and this will include the certification charges for the specialty, as well.
